  • Granted there are bigger problems in the world at the moment than the quality of Australia’s growth path but just as today’s reality in Europe is a product of decisions made and avoided over the past 20-30 years, so future investment outcomes in Australia (and our standard of living) will reflect our inability/unwillingness to address the unfolding decline in competitiveness.

  • If I was the marginal supplier of global capital I would have more faith in the broad industry base and aggressive entrepreneurial culture of the US economy to deliver dividends and pay interest than I would of an increasingly narrow, short sighted and foreign capital-hungry Australia.
