After a brief legal career at Minter Ellison, Paul joined JB Were & Son in 1998 starting in Equity Capital Markets before moving to Investment Research in 1999. A senior analyst since 2001, Paul has variously covered the media, beverages, transport and healthcare sectors. He consistently rated in the top 3 analysts across two sectors in independent surveys such as Peter Lee & Associates/Greenwich and in 2006 won the AFR/Starmine Best Earnings Estimator Award. In 2010 he attended INSEAD as winner of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia's Hugh D.T. Williamson Scholarship.
